- Abstract : A novel mathematical model of skeletal muscle regeneration is introduced. It consists of a system of six ordinary differential equations modeling the response of healthy mammalian skeletal muscle tissue to sudden and severe damage. The system is studied analytically to determine its equilibria and their corresponding stability properties. A sensitivity analysis is also conducted to examine the parameters' influence on the system. A set of numerical simulations is performed to simulate various damage and healing scenarios, with and without medical intervention. This model can be used by medical doctors and scientists to forecast the outcomes of medicinal treatments prior to implementation and to guide future laboratory experiments.
