- Summary: In this paper, a three‐dimensional coupled Euler‐PIC (particle in cell) method is proposed to solve the numerical analysis in which the Eulerian method cannot track the deformation process of material during the penetration problems. In the proposed method, the particles with a certain volume and influence domain are adopted to simulate real material flow, and the bidirectional mapping is achieved to physical quantities by the influence domain‐weighted average based on the topological relationship between grids and particles. For the complexity of parallel algorithm of hydrocode, the solution of data dependence and the realization of the parallel algorithm are presented. The numerical simulations of the typical penetration problems are compared with the corresponding experimental data to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Moreover, the numerical simulations of shaped charge and projectile penetration of reinforced concrete targets are carried out. The deformation process of reinforcing bars on the penetration process is obtained. Numerical results show that the coupled method has the advantages of both Lagrangian and Eulerian method and efficiently calculates the process of large deformation of the material.
