- Abstract : Early days of determining water quality involved imprecise sight, smell, and taste assessments. Significant strides have been made with analytical methods in the past several decades to categorize and understand water's sensory characteristics for selecting treatment methods, controlling sources, and focusing monitoring. No matter how far we've come, though, water consumers remain the final judges of quality.
