Abstract

Abstract : The cover picture shows floating hot air balloons whereby the color of the balloon envelope symbolizes complexes [Co(L‐Tara)2 ] n+ (L = 1, 10‐phenanthroline; Tara = triaryl amine; n = 2, yellow; n = 3, red for neutral and blue for single‐charged Tara units). The balloon operator triggers the Co 2+ to Co 3+ oxidation by dropping an electron as represented by a sand sack. The oxidation step in [Co(L‐Tara)2 ] 2+ is chemically reversible and Co‐centred. While sun light induces the consecutive charge transfer from a Tara moiety to Co 3+, which can be seen as a ligand‐to‐metal charge transfer band in the vis‐NIR spectrum.
