Abstract

Abstract: Ag/Graphene hybrids have become a popular research topic given their enhanced electronic, optical, mechanical, and electrochemical properties. Here, we present a simple and environmentally friendly approach for the synthesis of Ag/Graphene hybrids. Our approach employs graphite foil as the electrode and achieves electrochemical exfoliation under the power of alternating currents. AgNO3 acts as an Ag source, and regulates the generation of free radicals, such as HO·, thus controlling exfoliation, during the formation of Ag/Graphene hybrids. We systematically studied the process parameters that affect the Ag/Graphene hybrids structure, including the addition rate of AgNO3, the agitation rate of the electrolyte, and the temperature of the electrochemical exfoliation process. The as-prepared Ag/Graphene hybrids show excellent electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness with an optimal value of up to 29.9 dB and with a smaller thickness of 0.257 mm under microwave frequencies of 8.0–12.0 GHz. Our method for the large-scale synthesis of Ag/Graphene hybrids method can be extended to the synthesis of other novel metal/graphene composite and provides an efficient approach for the hybridization of novel metals with graphene.
