- Abstract: In situ stress in deep rock masses has a significant effect on directional fracturing during slit charge blasting. In this paper, the stress distribution around a borehole under high static stress is studied using theoretical analysis, and the dynamic caustics experimental method is used to study crack propagation behavior related to slit charge blasting under such high static stress conditions. The results show that crack initiation and early propagation are affected by both the stress distribution around the borehole and the action of the blasting gas. In addition, when the static stress is perpendicular to the slit direction, crack propagation is suppressed and the crack propagation length is short. Conversely, crack propagation is promoted and the length of crack propagation increases when static stress is parallel to the slit direction.
