Abstract

Abstract : A 31-year-old woman presented with progressive breathlessness since 1 year. Flexible bronchoscopy revealed a vascular tumor completely occluding the right main bronchus. A diagnosis of primary endobronchial myxoma was made. Tumor debulking was performed using rigid bronchoscopy. This enabled right lower lobectomy. A literature search yielded 12 cases of primary pulmonary myxoma, and only 2 previous reports of endobronchial myxoma. Most tumors were incidentally detected and were cured surgically. Endobronchial myxomas are rare and are usually asymptomatic. Treatment involves surgical excision. Rigid bronchoscopy serves as a bridge to surgery and can reduce the extent of surgery.
