- Abstract : Around 100 new and replacement primary schools are needed every year in the UK at a cost of approximately £5bn, but the industry struggles to meet that demand, partly due to its general inefficiency. Now the Government wants construction to build using standardised sets of components suitable for multiple building types, including schools, which can be manufactured for assembly offsite. The first trailblazer for the 'Platforms' approach is being applied to primary schools by a consortium called Seismic, which was launched earlier this year and is funded by public body Innovate UK.
