Abstract

With abundance of heat especially in tropical countries and Middle East nations, power-harnessing techniques have been more focused towards construction of solar panels and ponds for trapping and harvesting energy. This research paper is focused towards the design considerations for a high efficiency harvesting of solar heat using solar ponds utilising thermocouples. The design considerations discussed and implemented in this paper include the analysis of harvested power towards varying pond structures such as shallow water pond, medium and deepwater ponds. A design of the experimentation layout has been presented in this paper. Data collected over a period of 30 days have been utilised to determine the percentage efficiency in the proposed construction. The final part of this paper proposes an optimised flash evaporator for electric power generation simulated and analysed for different working fluids which could be thought of as a future scope for large-scale power generation.
