- Abstract: In experimental mechanics as well as in industry the digital image correlation is an important method for the evaluation of displacement and strain fields. The resolution of the method is influenced by the fineness of the existing speckle pattern. Sprayed patterns do not provide the required resolution for microscopic applications. Therefore, an alternative pattern production based on abrasive paper was developed. The generated pattern was applied to a test specimen and its function was tested in an experiment. The evaluations of displacement and strain fields were made using GOM Correlate Professional and Matlab
