- Abstract : A fluorescent mitochondria‐targeting dehydroberberine (DH‐BBR) that could form organic nanoparticles by a lipophilic anion tetraphenylborate (TPB)‐mediated self‐assembly process was developed. The self‐assembled nanoparticles could remarkably enhance the uptake of DH‐BBR into tumor cells, induce significant mitochondrial dysfunction, and ultimately inhibit tumor growth in living mice. This study demonstrated the great potential of using self‐assembly approach to engineer mitochondria‐targeting small molecules for improved cancer therapy.
