- Abstract : Metal‐free and carbon‐based catalysts are emerging as a promising alternative to conventional metallic catalysts. As summarized in article number1805717 by Josue Ortiz‐Medina, Feng Wang, Xiangdong Yao, Mauricio Terrones, Morinobu Endo, and co‐workers, the engineered defect and doped sites in nanostructured carbon materials provide increased activity toward the efficient catalysis of useful reactions, such as the oxygen reduction and hydrogen evolution reactions.
