Abstract

Abstract : Cu‐lighted phosphines : Tertiary phosphines, which contain polyaromatic fragments, undergo facile phosphacyclization, mediated by Cu II salts. The formation of the P−C bond produces a six‐membered ring fused with a hydrocarbon core. The appearance of the cationic electron‐deficient phosphonium group within a rigid polycyclic scaffold leads to very intense fluorescence, which can be rationally tuned through judicious molecular design to cover a wide range of emission wavelengths from 420 nm to 780 nm in solution.
