- Abstract : ( BJOG . 2018;125(7):892) Recently, there has been increased focus on the possible existence of the "night and weekend effect" in obstetrics, as it has been demonstrated in other medical specialties. A study from Reif and colleagues found that nighttime delivery was associated with increased risk (odds ratio: 1.35) of severe adverse neonatal events compared with daytime delivery in 10 centers in Austria. There was no significant difference in risk of adverse events between the weekday and weekends.
