- Abstract: We focused on a cicada wing which has antibacterial property. The wing has nanopillars on the surface. It is expected that a cell is destroyed by stretching effect on the nanostructure. However, mechanism of the bactericidal effect has not been clarified yet. We mimicked and fabricated nanopillars on the surface of the quartz crystal for QCM-D measuring. QCM-D can detect the mass change, and measure the dissipation around the electrode which depends with the viscoelasticity of adsorbed materials and medium. The nanostructure was fabricated by using electron beam (EB) lithography and pulsed electrodeposition of Au. Contact angle of the Au nanostructure was controlled by self-assembled monolayer (SAM). In fact, the surface was provided of hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity. We present the bactericidal effect dependent with the surface characteristics measured by QCM-D
