Abstract

ABSTRACT: Youth, are the most affected by the recent political violence in Côte d'Ivoire, spanning 20 years from the late twentieth century to the early twenty-first Century when these youth were involved in the cycle of violence as victims and enablers of the conflict. Conflict subdued after 2011, but many young people remain in the mobile, gang-like groups that emanated after the conflict. Little research has focused on methods to reintegrate young people through health-care provision, specifically HIV/AIDS preventive care. Data collection on these young people remains difficult due to the surreptitious nature of their activities and living conditions. We carry out a literature review to examine the effect of the recent violent period on the youth and the HIV/AIDS rate in the country. Finally, we provide insight into possible interventions for providing HIV/AIDS programming to conflict-affected youth.
