- ABSTRACT: A series of experiments has been conducted to investigate the mass burning rate of hydrocarbon pool fires with different lip heights, where the pool size is designed to be in the convection-dominant regime under a quiescent condition. The pool sizes of 5, 6, 7, and 8 cm are considered, while the lip heights are 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, and 3.0 cm. The heat feedback from flame body to fuel surface has also been discussed, given different lip heights. It was found that the heat conduction feedback to the fuel increased with the non-dimensional lip height in the convection-dominant regime. In addition, heat convection decreased with the increase in the non-dimensional lip height.
