Abstract

Abstract: The nitromethylation of 1, 3‐diarylpropenes via 2, 3‐dichloro‐5, 6‐dicyano‐1, 4‐benzoquinone (DDQ) mediated C−H oxidative activation is reported, in which N, N ‐dimethyl‐2‐nitroethyleneamine is used as a nitromethane equivalent. The precedent method for the synthesis of 1, 3‐diaryl‐2‐propenylnitromethanes is safe and easy to work‐up. Abstract : Oxidative coupling : The nitromethylation of 1, 3‐diarylpropenes was mediated by DDQ using N, N ‐dimethyl‐2‐nitroethyleneamine as a nitromethane equivalent. It provides a safe and convenient method for the synthesis of 1, 3‐diaryl‐2‐propenylnitromethanes.
