- Highlights: A novel strategy of control based on the rooted tree optimization (RTO) is proposed. This study develops the RTO-ST controller to search optimal ST gains. RTO-ST strategy is applied to minimize ripples in electromagnetic torque and rotor flux. Simulation results show RTO-ST technique more accuracy than ST traditional. Abstract: Direct Torque Control (DTC) of the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) is receiving increasing attention due to important advantages, such as high performance and low dependence on motor parameters. In this paper, to reduce torque and flux ripples, high order sliding mode control based on the super-twisting (HOSMC-ST) approach is proposed. To improve the performance of this approach, new rooted tree optimization (RTO) algorithm was used in order to search optimal gain of the super-twisting (ST) controller. The simulation experiments demonstrate when using RTO-ST controller can effectively reduce flux and torque ripples with better dynamic performances by compared with performance when used ST traditional.
