- Abstract: Coupled loaded tooth contact analysis (LTCA) model and Timoshenko beam element model, a quasi-static contact analysis model for the wide-faced cylindrical geared rotor system considering shaft deflection is developed. The generalized loaded static transmission error for the wide-faced cylindrical gear pair is proposed for the first time, and the calculation method of mesh misalignment caused by shaft deflection for the wide-faced cylindrical gear pair is established. Compared with the three-dimensional contact finite element model, the precision of the proposed model is validated. The effects of supporting layout, power transmission path and output torque on the quasi-static and dynamic behaviors of a wide-faced spur/helical geared rotor system are investigated. The results show that supporting layout has significant effect on gear meshing condition and dynamic behaviors of the system. When the bearings are arranged asymmetrically, the partial contact loss along the gear width occurs and the system vibration is enhanced notably. The power transmission path shows very weak influence on gear tooth engagement and dynamic responses of the system. The contact patterns at different output torques are very close to each other. However, with the increase of output torque, the increasing mesh misalignment leads to stronger system vibration.
