- Wound healing is a dynamic, complex process. Electrospun submicrometric fibers have the high surface-to-volume ratio, high porosity, and mimicking the native extracellular matrix and have unique properties in wound tissue process. In this work, poly(ethylene glycol) with poly-β-hydroxybutyrate valerate and polylactic acid were used to fabricate submicrometric fibers and membranes by an electrospinning technique. Furthermore, different polymers ratio and/or electrospun mixture solution were investigated. The ideal composite fibrous membranes were obtained when poly(ethylene glycol) to poly-β-hydroxybutyrate valerate weight ratio was 4:1. The chemical structural characterization, the thermal properties, and the mechanical properties were investigated. Furthermore, wound healing process and reactions were investigated in vitro. Our results indicated that both of the tested submicrometric membranes enhanced wound healing, with the best effect was observed in polylactic acid submicrometric membrane. These results were informative for further in vivo investigation regarding tissue regeneration, remodeling, and wound healing process.
