- Abstract : In this paper, we present a method of reducing VR sickness using static and dynamic FoV processing based on visual content analysis. The motion information is obtained for each frame using a feature tracking algorithm. Then, the induced sickness for each frame is estimated, using a sickness model that is obtained experimentally. Based on the estimated sickness, the FOV in vertical region is adjusted dynamically to mitigate sickness. The novelty of our approach lies in: a) A head movement based method for measuring postural stability, to continuously monitor sickness, b) Vertical FOV processing based on content analysis, for reducing sickness, c) Sickness estimation based on visual content analysis. Our research shows a significant decrease in sickness, 31.4% and 28.8% respectively on reducing FoV by a fixed amount and adaptively based on content analysis.
