Abstract

Sustainable purchasing is both an emerging concept and practice in public sectors worldwide. While this process is intensifying, the state-of-the-art literature suffers from a shortage of information about the subject in developing countries such as Brazil. This work puts the road to sustainable public purchasing in Brazil into perspective by considering its legal trends as well as associated opportunities and barriers faced. This perspective adds value to the literature on sustainable public purchasing by unlocking the main relevant issues on this subject in Brazil.
