Abstract

Abstract : The Cover Feature shows a nucleoside‐based (gemcitabine) gelator self‐assembling into a colloidal doughnut‐like structure, that will then elongate into nanofibres and form a continuous cross‐linked fibre network in water, creating a gel for the localised intratumoural treatment of pancreatic cancer. We have characterised the viscoelastic nature of the gel through rheology and TEM and confirmed cell growth inhibition in pancreatic cancer cell lines. In addition, we have also synthesised other gelators based on the HIV antiretroviral lamivudine and characterised their self‐assembly into gels for vaginal drug delivery.
