- Abstract: Trisubstituted olefins are reactants in template‐directed, solid‐state [2+2] photocycloaddition reactions. Whereas hydrogen‐bond‐based templates afford crystalline assemblies with olefins that are photostable, Ag I coordination results in carbon–carbon double bonds that react stereoselectively and result in quantitative yield. Abstract : Trisubstituted olefins undergo templated [2+2] photocycloaddition reactions in the solid state. Metal–organic templates result in crystalline assemblies where C=C bonds react stereoselectively and result in quantitative yield (see figure). Hydrogen‐bond‐based templates afford assemblies with olefins that are photostable.
