- Abstract: Granular materials are complex substances which behave differently under different handling conditions. Flowability of these granular materials plays a vital role in production and processing applications because it defines the quality of the final product. In this paper a new method has been proposed for evaluating the flowability of granular materials by using optical measurement setup called digital image correlation. This new method was developed to solve two purposes. One is to overcome the drawback of Bek et al's apparatus, and the other reason is to estimate the flowability of granular materials with higher accuracy. This new method has the power to side line the traditional parameters (K and µ) used in the powder literature.
