- Abstract : Introduction: Today, physicians are accustomed to used PET and MR images for contouring target volumes ant organs at risk. In practice, these images have to be registered to the CT scan before the volume delineation. Acquiring images using the same patient position is a mean to improve the contours definition. However, better precision can be obtained by performing the both exams keeping patient in the same position. Materials used and results obtained for pelvis localisation are discussed. Methods: This study is performed on a Discovery GE710 PET/CT and Optima MR450w MRI (General Electric®). Both imagers are equipped with lasers and rigid flat panels. The Zephyr XL (Diacor®) system is used for transferring immobilized patients between each modality. This system is a patented hover technology which can be used with various modality and treatments delivery. Images are registered on AW Server 3.2 (General Electric®) using the "Integrated Registration" software. The rigid registration matrix is then used to calculate the pitch and roll. The pitch and roll values obtained (6 patients) are compared to that measured by positioning patient between each modality (10 patients). Results: Using Zephyr XL (Diacor®), the pitch and roll median values are 0.06° ± 0.33 and 0.11° ± 0.45, respectively. The corresponding values obtained by positioning the patient between each modality are 0.34° ± 1.75 and −0.23° ± 1, respectively.
