- Abstract : During macroautophagy, cytosolic elements are confined in autophagosomes before fusion with endolysosomes for degradation or recycling. Recruitment of the SNARE (soluble N -ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor) factor syntaxin 17 (STX17) is instrumental for this maturation step. Two recent studies indicate that the kinase ULK1 and the apoptosis modulator BRUCE both regulate STX17 engagement during autophagosome maturation in mammalian cells.
