Abstract

Abstract : Highly anisotropic 2D nanosheets of layered inorganic solids have attracted great attention because of their excellent functionalities as electrode materials for diverse secondary batteries and supercapacitors, and as electrocatalysts. The unique characteristics of 2D inorganic nanosheets such as high surface area, short ion diffusion path, tailorable compositions and electrical conductivities offer remarkable advantages for their application for electrodes and electrocatalysts. In their Minireview onpage 4757 ff., S.‐J. Hwang et al. present the recent progress on 2D inorganic nanosheet‐based electrodes and electrocatalysts to provide insight on the design and synthesis of novel efficient functional materials applicable for next‐generation energy storage systems using 2D inorganic nanosheets.
