Abstract

Abstract : How does one unravel peroxo complexation of most post‐transition elements in aqueous solutions at high pH? Two tellurium μ‐η 1 :η 1 ‐O2 2− coordination peroxo compounds (NH4 )4 Te2 (μ‐OO)2 (μ‐O)O4 (OH)2 and (NH4 )5 Te2 (μ‐OO)2 (μ‐O)O5 (OH)⋅1.28 H2 O⋅0.72 H2 O2 were obtained from basic aqueous hydrogen peroxide solutions and characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. Furthermore, 125 Te NMR investigations show that the crystal structures reflect the solution chemistry of the peroxotellurates.
