Abstract

Abstract : The cover picture shows 4, 6‐benzylidene glucoside synthesized from an aromatic aldehyde and monosaccharide under mild conditions, through two self‐assembly modes depending on the solvent used. In an organogel, the glucose derivative adopts a one‐dimensional arrangement because of interdigitation resulting from the slight overlap of the glucose moieties through hydrogen‐bonding interactions. In contrast, in a hydrogel, the glucose derivative adopts a one‐dimensional arrangement through van der Waals driven interdigitation resulting from overlap of the alkoxy chains in the glucose moieties.
