Abstract

Abstract : In 2009, Dow Chemical presented "More Lessons 'Re‐Learned' from Corrosion Under Insulation" (Overton, T, "More Lesson's "Re‐learned" from Corrosion Under Insulation", American Institute of Chemical Engineers, 2009 Spring Meeting and 5th Global Congress on Process Safety, April, 2009) at the 11th Process Plant Safety Symposium. A serious near‐miss related to Corrosion under Insulation (CUI) was described, as well as lessons learned and policy changes enacted after the event. This article will provide an update on Dow's CUI program since that time and detail challenges in maintaining an effective CUI program in today's business environment of mergers, acquisitions, and the continuing drive to be cost‐effective. © 2018 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Process Saf Prog 37: 502–505, 2018
