Abstract

Mixed marriages are believed to facilitate the integration between immigrants and natives. However, little is known about the development of these unions. We aim to contribute to this field by building an empirically testable theoretical model in which individual, cultural and environmental factors such as the opportunity cost of migration, cultural distance between partners, immigration policies and attitudes toward intermarriage interact to predict the marital stability of binational couples across host countries.
