Abstract

A compelling body of literature suggests that trade policy reforms under the influence of WTO in a cross-section of countries have paved the way for the international economy to become increasingly interdependent (James, 1994 and Koppel, 1992, Dunning, 1996 among others). This interdependence makes the liberalisation of trade and investment regimes both necessary and inevitable for exploiting the opportunities for international business expansion. Any attempt in the direction of protectionism is likely to leave the national economy inefficient and uncompetitive.
