- A good fatigue testing and development programme should be based on systematic component tests and on a realistic operation time–table. Road tests for service load measurements have to cover all significant operation processes and events, as well as a sufficient number of loading and road–surface options. A new three–parameter power spectral density formula for road–surface description is introduced. Calculation of the approximate load statistics of vehicles that exhibit linear behaviour can be performed on the basis of observations made of different vehicles of similar structure and design, and with the aid of some evident assumptions.
