- Nd: YAG laser marking is flexible, programmable and environmentally clean process. The present study analyses the relationship of processes parameters of Nd: YAG laser marking on alumina ceramic. RSM based experimental design with a CCRD having 32 runs was selected and empirical modelling was established to develop the mathematical relationship between various performance characteristics and the laser marking parameters. Analysis of variance test had also been carried out to check the adequacy of the developed regression empirical models. Detail analysis on marking characteristics was made based on the developed models. Multi objective optimisation was performed to optimise the marking process parameters and it is found that proper values of process parameters such as higher pulse frequency (5 kHz), higher lamp current (23.3 A), moderate pulse width (5%), moderate scanning speed (5 mm/s) and lower air pressure (0.3 kgf/cm 2 ) are to be selected during laser marking on alumina ceramics for achieving minimum mark width, maximum mark depth and maximum mark intensity.
