- In this work the drilling of the 303, 304 and 316 stainless steels is studied using two different coolant techniques: high pressure through the tool spindle and micropulverisation of oil in air applied internal to the spindle, Minimum Quantity of Lubricant (MQL). Previously, the machinability of both materials is studied making use of FEM simulation and turning experiments. More than 1600 holes are drilled when emulsion coolant and 60 bars pressure is used. Unfortunately, results with MQL were poor.
