- Abstract:
- This paper surveys the changes in Chinese higher education and the balance between Chinese traditions and learning from other countries. It summarises earlier Chinese traditions and the phases of the recent expansion of higher education. It draws on the reflections of a Chinese academic and specialist in business management teaching who has spent a year in the UK observing the teaching of business and business subjects in a UK university. It argues that thinking about how to manage future higher educational change in China needs to draw on both western and Chinese elements.
