Abstract

This study attempts to investigate the patterns of information use, organisational culture and their interrelationships among exporters. Data were collected in 2009 and analysed based upon 131 responses provided by the export managers within the Malaysian exporting organisations using a self-administered mail survey. The findings revealed that most of the information collected was intended for instrumental/conceptual rather than symbolic use. Adhocracy culture was ranked highest among the exporting firms, followed by hierarchy, market and clan. The results also suggest that there exists significant relationship between information use and organisational culture. The results are discussed and interpreted to provide important implications to the export firms and policy makers.
