- Graphical abstract: Villages comprising a particular district will have their own granaries. The seller at each granary will have access to the database through an ID and password. The consumer at each granary will be verified through a triple security check: first through his/her Aadhar card and next through a biometric scan. After these steps, the data will be updated on the server, and an SMS will be sent to the consumer regarding his purchases. If at any of these steps the verification fails, the seller shall go back to the previous step. This model can provide a platform for reliable, secure and end user delivery system for all type users including non-educated users. It can also help protect cheating and corruption in food distribution system. Abstract: India's Public Distribution System (PDS) comprises ration shops which are responsible for distribution of ration to many poor families. Necessary commodities such as rice, kerosene, sugar, wheat etc., are supplied to the less privileged sections as per the eligibility and at fixed rates by the Indian government. However, the existing system suffers from major drawbacks such as storage of food grains, manual and inconsistent tallying of records against stock, black marketing and housekeeping. Hence, the conventional system needs some modification to ensure there is minimal wastage and food grains reach the right people.
