- Highlights: There are proposals to double or even treble the present size of the UK wind fleet. A larger wind fleet will be less efficient due to increased wind shedding. The extent of this loss in efficiency has not yet been quantified. This study uses a novel approach to determine the incremental load factor. Marginal efficiency reduces to 63% of its current level should the present size be doubled.
