Abstract

Abstract: Zn/CeCl3 .7H2 O mediated facile and an efficient synthesis of oxindoles motifs via linear regioselective reductive coupling between isatin/isatinimine derivatives and vinyl sulfones at room temperature has been described. This synthetic protocol is base free and allow for the synthesis of wide variety of oxindole motifs in moderate to high yields. This is the first example of Mannich‐type coupling between isatinimines and vinyl sulfones.
