- Abstract : A series of substituted 1, 8‐naphthyridine derivatives was synthesized as cytotoxic agent by using starting material 1, 4‐dihydro‐4‐oxo‐1, 8‐naphthyridine‐3‐carbohydrazide (1 ). Further reactions on compound1 were processed with different reagents to afford the corresponding 3‐heteraryl‐1, 8‐naphthyridine derivatives2–22 . In vitro cytotoxic activities of new synthesized compounds were assayed against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma, which showed that compounds3 and12 had the more potent cytotoxic activity. Abstract :
