- ABSTRACT: The high-pressure phase transition of bismuth, Bi, has been investigated using an in-situ X-ray powder diffraction measurement at pressures and temperatures up to 8.1 GPa and 440 K, respectively. The pressure-induced phase transition from Bi-III to Bi-V was observed. This transition occurred at 7.6 GPa and at room temperature, where a negative temperature dependence for this transition was confirmed. The transition boundary was determined to beP ( GPa ) = 12 .4 − 0 .016 × T ( K ) .
