Abstract

The properties of fireproofing sheet to prevent the rapid failure of electrical equipment and its tubular-section elements and also electrical wiring and cables when they catch fire have been studied. We compared the physicomechanical characteristics, the fire resistance, and the adhesion of fireproofing sheet based on chlorinated polyethylene or butyl rubber and containing fireproofing mixtures with different contents of the components: monoammonium phosphate (MAP), pentaerythrite (PER), and melamine (MAM), and also TiO2 . The inadequate autohesion of the composite was compensated for by applying an additional thin layer of adhesive on the surface of the sheet. The best combination of properties is possessed by fireproofing sheet containing chorinated polyethylene and a mixture of 50 parts MAP, 20 parts PER, 25 parts MAM, and 5 parts TiO2 .
