Abstract

This paper draws upon innovation diffusion theory and more recent conceptualisations of mobile internet adoption behaviour. It confirmed the factors in a model developed in the study that were guiding these adoption decisions, including experience of technology and confidence with technology along with the level and source of the respondent's education. Some of the characteristics of the technology that were significant in the decision to adopt were found to be the usability, speed of response, compatibility with other technologies being used by the respondents and security characteristics. An implication for expanding the use of mobile internet applications in Jordan and other Arabic communities is that 'tech-savvy users' will lead adoption if they are provided with secure and usable products.
