- Abstract: A LiCl liquid absorption dehumidification unit was integrated into a 50 kW experimental platform, which is a combined cold, heat and power (CCHP) distributed energy system (DES). The dehumidification process was driven by using the engine's waste heat from jacket-cooling water, a low-grade waste heat source, which carries away around one-third of fuel combustion energy. The performance of the dehumidification unit varying with the operating conditions of the DES showed that it recovered near 50% of the waste heat from jacket-cooling water, thus increased the overall primary energy rate by 5%. This research aimed to develop a practical technology for recovering and converting low grade waste heat for dehumidification in hot and humid area during summer or the warmer seasons.
