- Abstract: A new generation of multifunctional, adaptive and dynamic facades is to be developed in the framework of the research project SELFIE to respond to the EU Directive 2002/91. The aim is to build novel adaptive envelope systems for nZEB to facilitate the exploitation of RES at building scale and simultaneously improve indoor environmental quality both in existing and new buildings. The project focuses on the design, testing and construction of innovative technological systems capable of integrating energy saving smart materials and novel technologies, for buildings located in the Mediterranean area. The Adaptive Box Window elements presented in this paper are designed to be preassembled, modular and adaptive.
