- Abstract: Analysis of computer networks is essential for the design and maintenance of complex production systems, especially considering the increasing interconnection by Internet of Things devices. An important tool in network analysis is the visualization of network topologies. In this work we present a novel approach for automatic visualization of rooted trees that includes port specifc connections as they appear in communication networks. We further show how this algorithm improves the drawing of industrial Ethernet network topologies, taking also problematic properties such as cycles and multiple root nodes into account.
