Abstract

Abstract : The management of traumatic dental injuries has been enhanced in recent years by the availability of published guidelines. However, the complexities of many traumatic situations can make the application of specific recommendations difficult. In such situations, the underlying biological principles related to wound healing may provide guidance in charting various treatment approaches. In this article we look at how the principles of injury stabilization, bacterial complications, healing potentials, and alveolar ridge preservation can provide treatment planning guidance that may improve treatment outcomes.
